JEE Main latest updates
What is JEE Main?
The Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE-Main), formerly known as the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is a computer-based test administered across India for admission to various technical undergraduate programmes in engineering, architecture, and planning. The National Testing Agency is in charge of the examination (NTA). The JEE-Main rank is used to determine admission to B.Tech and B.Arch programmes at prestigious technical institutes such as the National Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institutes of Information Technology. However, in 2021, the test was repeated four times, from February to September.
Based on their JEE Main scores, students are admitted to IITs, CFTIs, NITs, and other government-funded technical institutes. In addition, the top 2,50,000 students in JEE Main will be eligible to take JEE Advanced. In essence, the entrance exam will begin in April and run through May 2022. According to the most recent information from the officials, the JEE Main 2022 exam will be held only twice this year.
About JEE Main 2022:
JEE Main 2022 is a computer-based online test administered by the National Testing Agency for students interested in studying engineering at India’s top universities. The first phase of the IIT Joint Entrance Exam is JEE Main 2022. Candidates could also choose to take one or all of the exams. In preparing the ranks/merit list, the exam conducting authority took into account the best NTA score.
JEE Main is a standardised test that is administered in India’s various states. The exam is held at the undergraduate level and is used to offer admission to some of the best engineering and technical institutions in the country, whether they are government-funded or privately owned.
JEE Main 2022 will be held in two sessions, one in April and the other in May. JEE Main questions are mostly based on NCERT, but it is known to throw in a few tricky questions to test the candidate’s conceptual understanding and analytical skills.
JEE Main 2022 Latest dates:
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has rescheduled the exam dates for JEE Main 2022 Session 1 according to officials. The exam will now take place on April 21, 24, 25, 29, and May 1st, respectively. On the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in – candidates can check the details of the revised schedule.
Registration for JEE Main 2022:
The NTA has begun the registration process for JEE Main 2022. To apply for JEE Main 2022, candidates should go to jeemain.nta.nic.in. The registration window will be open until March 31st, 2022 (5:00 p.m.), and the deadline to pay the fee will be March 31st, 2022 (5:00 p.m.) (11:30 p.m.)
Age limit in JEE Main 2022:
There is no upper age limit for candidates who wish to participate in JEE (Main) – 2022. Candidates who passed their class 12/equivalent exam in 2020, 2021, or are scheduled to take it in 2022, regardless of their age, are eligible to take the JEE (Main) – 2022 exam. Candidates may, however, be required to meet the age requirements of the Institute(s) to which they wish to apply.
Qualifying Exam:
Applicants can qualify regardless of age if they have passed class 12th or an equivalent exam such as a two-year Pre-University exam, Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy exam, senior secondary school examination, Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination, Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination, a diploma recognised by AICTE or a State board, General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka), or a diploma recognised by AICTE or a State.
JEE Main Exam Pattern:
For candidates who want a smooth JEE preparation, understanding the JEE Main exam pattern is critical. It aids students in understanding the marking scheme, question distribution, sectional weighting, and exam length. For the JEE Main exam, there is a new format. In place of two, there are three papers. Paper 1 is for students interested in B.E./B.Tech programmes at NITs, IIITs, DTU, and other GFTIs, while Paper 2A is for students interested in B.Arch. programmes at NITs, IIITs, DTU, and other GFTIs. Paper 2B is intended for these institutes’ B.Planning programmes.
Candidates can gain a valuable perspective on the entire exam structure by understanding the exam pattern. Students should get a thorough understanding of the paper pattern and devise a study plan or strategy to achieve better results.
Maths, Physics, and Chemistry are covered in JEE Main Paper 1, while Maths, Aptitude, and Drawing Test are covered in JEE Main Paper 2A. Paper 2B will have questions based on mathematics, aptitude, and planning. Candidates have the option of taking the test in one or both sessions. There will be 90 questions in total, with candidates getting a total of 75 questions to attempt, similar to last year. The total number of points available is 300.
All of the papers are computer-based online tests, except for Paper 2A, which is conducted offline using pen and paper. All three Papers have a three-hour exam duration.
JEE Main Cutoff Marks:
Soon after the exam, the National Testing Agency releases the JEE Main cut off marks, as well as detailed results that include subject-wise marks earned, All India Rank, category rank, and JEE Advanced qualifying status.
Candidates are shortlisted for counselling based on their percentile score. The following factors will determine the JEE Main cut off marks.
- The total number of candidates who showed up
- The level of difficulty of the questions
- The students’ overall performance.
- The previous year’s cutoff trends
JEE Main Counselling Procedure:
The HRD Ministry established the Joint Seat Allocation Authority to oversee the admissions process for IITs, IIITs, NITs, and government-funded technical institutes. Through JoSAA counselling, students who pass JEE Main will be able to apply to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.
Merit, eligibility, preferences, and seat availability are used to determine seat allocation in the preferred technical institute. Qualifying students must register for JoSAA counselling, which will begin after the results are released.
How To Prepare For JEE Main 2022?
For the majority of students, coaching classes are seen as one of the most important ways to achieve a good grade. However, if an aspirant puts in a reasonable amount of effort and develops an effective preparation strategy, they can achieve their desired result without coaching.
Candidates must create a well-organized study schedule. They also need to take a calculated approach to everything. They must learn about the exam, read the syllabus, use the proper study materials, and practise answering questions, among other things. They must also be mentally and physically capable of taking the test.
